Surrounding ourselves with positivity is crucial to our happiness and overall health. Research conducted by Mayo Clinic found that people who remain optimistic have lower levels of cardiovascular disease and ultimately longer lifespans than glass-half-empty-ers. Alternatively, a study done by Dartmouth and University of Michigan showed that pessimists’ health deteriorated much faster as they aged than optimists’.
But with all of the heavy news seeping through our tvs, computers, phones, etc. at every second, it’s not always easy to remain upbeat. Here are five videos to watch as anecdotes to current day depressing news to keep your mind and body feeling positive.

This is a guided meditation by Ora Nadrich and it can be used to eliminate negative or fear-based thoughts – because who has time for those when we’re focusing on staying positive?
4. Walking Prayers
In the midst of the most divisive political climate in history comes a video that empowers, inspires, and uplifts in a way only poetry can. British director, Deborah Anderson, has gifted the world with a poetic call to action to celebrate and honor women, and the result of their creative collaboration with Gina Loring will blow you away.
5. The Gift
The Gift is one the finalist films for Conscious Good’s Mindscape Film Festival. In it, an unexpected act of kindness changes someone’s trajectory. This film shows how completing altruistic acts can have an uplifting domino effect. Be prepared to cry happy tears.

Hundreds of talented filmmakers have submitted their work for the Mindscape Film Festival and now we need your help! We have extended the online viewing and audience voting deadline from July 24th to August 3rd. Watch all of the films and cast your vote for your favorite here.
After August 3rd, some of the films will no longer be available to view on-line. A selection of films will go on to compete for the Juried Awards and become the Mindscape Film Festival program that tours the U.S. with Gathr! Learn more about the Gathr tour.
