“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.”
— Ram Dass
So we’re almost through January and there’s no hiding the fact that we haven’t quite followed through on our new year’s resolutions. And you know what? That’s ok. There’s no use beating ourselves up over it – especially since, for some of our goals – we needed to set a solid foundation. Before we can expect to make big changes in our lives – whether they’re eating better or surrounding ourselves with more positive people – we have to make sure we have a path to follow and leaders who can help us down that path.
Well, that’s where conscious living comes in. Here are five conscious living thought leaders we admire:
1. Tim Ferriss
Ferris may not be the typical meditation guru that you might think of when we say ‘conscious living,’ but wow is he in the know. He has written many self-help best-seller books such as The 4-Hour Work Week, The 4-Hour Body, and so many more. He knows himself and his surrounding so well that he is able to teach himself (and his followers) a skill that would normally take a much longer amount of time.
2. Lara Catone
Catone is a pioneer in the field of women’s sexual wellness. For the last 15 years, Lara has immersed herself in the studies of experiential and somatic (body-based) learning as a teacher of yoga and authentic movement, birth doula, childbirth educator and somatic sexologist. She’s basically the badass we’ve all been waiting for.
3. Anna David
Anna David is the New York Times-bestselling author of the novels Party Girl and Bought, the non-fiction books Reality Matters, Falling for Me, By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There and True Tales of Lust and Love and the Kindle Singles Animal Attraction and They Like Me, They Really Like Me. David knows that it takes conscious, constant and creative effort to make a life worth living.
4. Mallika Chopra
Mallika Chopra is a mom, media entrepreneur, public speaker and published author. Her most recent book, Living With Intent: My Somewhat Messy Journey to Purpose, Peace and Joy, was published in April 2015. Mallika is the founder of Intent.com, a website and app focused on personal, social and global wellness. Her intent is to harness the power of social media to connect people from around the world to improve their own lives, their communities and the planet. Casual.
5. Richard Miller
Miller is the founder of the iRest Program, which uses Yoga Nidra as a transformative practice of deep relaxation and meditative inquiry. It is currently in VA hospitals, military bases, hospitals, hospice and schools. His program helps people recapture and recover their innate sense of peace and relaxation after dealing with repeated trauma.
