WHAT TO WATCH – LISTEN TO – AND WHY
– JULY 2020 ISSUE –
“Once you choose hope, anything is possible.” Christopher Reeve, known for his role in Superman, said this after an unthinkable accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. He never gave up on his rehabilitation, his career and the possibility of scientific discovery.
This spring I had hoped we would have flattened the COVID curve by now and would be enjoying some “normalcy”. But life is more uncertain than ever. Will I get to travel to see my family and friends? Will there be school for my children in the Fall? I’m finding it hard to stay hopeful. I am feeling scared, selfish and a bit whiny. And unlike Reeve, I have full-body mobility.
What can we do to kindle a flame of hope in our hearts?
Here’s my go-to short-list: 1. Run in nature. 2. Volunteer to help others. 3. Create a new vision board 4. Call an old friend. 5. Practice gratitude. 6. Read, listen to or watch stories of individuals who overcame tremendous odds to see their hopes realized.

Interview with filmmaker Paul Howard
Recently I had the privilege of watching the film, “Infinite Potential: The Life and Ideas of David Bohm” and spoke with its creator, Paul Howard. Paul is a Producer, Director, and Executive Producer of international repute with an enviable track record in documentary, television series and most recently in feature production. Paul, what inspired you to become a visual storyteller? A filmmaker?
I was always interested in photography which I inherited from my father. In his spare time, he would take me on field trips and he encouraged my interest. I had a deep desire to express myself. I was keenly interested in the movies and had my favorite directors and was especially inspired by Stanley Kubrick. And while I would have liked to make feature films, I decided eventually to specialize in documentary. I loved getting my teeth into something and spending time in pre-production, production and editing in order to shape a project and give it real production value.
