Co-directed by Jody Oberfelder and Eric Siegel, 24 dancers playfully echo the “dance of neurons going on in your head all the time.” Jody collaborated with neuroscientists Weiji Ma, (who also is dancing in the film), Ed Lein from the Allen Institute for Brain Research, and Gary Marcus to evolve material based on the birth of a neuron (from progenitors) and neuronal connections. Jody Oberfelder has created nine films in addition to her extensive choreographic career as artistic director of Jody Oberfelder Projects (JOP). Dance of the Neurons was a Bryn Mawr Silver Screen Festival Finalist, and has been screened Long Legs Short Films DCTV Dance Films Association, Imagine Science Film Festival, New York No Limits Festival, and upcoming , the Dance on Camera Festival at The Film Society of Lincoln Center, Philadelphia Screendance Festival, and Kinofilm, Manchester International Short Film & Animation Festival. Her film, Come Sit Stay, received a Diamond Award from the California 2011 Award Festival. Her film Duet was awarded a Dance Film Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Silver Award at the Dance on Camera Festival, and a Jurors Choice Award from the New York Film Expo.
