Unreasonable at Sea: Solar Ear in China

Tendekayi Katsiga created the world’s first digitally programmable and rechargeable hearing aid, the Solar Ear, in a small village in Botswana 12 years ago. Now, his products are sold in over 40 countries, and he has manufacturing sites in Brazil, Botswana, and most recently, China.

In this episode, we followed Tendekayi as he visited the new manufacturing facility in China, which employs deaf workers. Not only does Solar Ear give deaf people around the world the opportunity to hear again, but it also empowers its employees the opportunity to achieve their biggest dreams in life.

Social entrepreneur Tendekayi Katsiga participated in [email protected], which was a program in partnership with Semester at Sea and the Stanford d.School, which brought together a cohort of 10 social impact companies who sailed around the world for 100 days, over 25,000 nautical miles, into 13 different countries.
